FIFA Club World Cup 2022: when does it start and Chelsea play, fixtures, final date, how to watch on TV in UK
The 18th edition of the tournament will see the Blues take on fellow continental champions from across the globe and try to bring the trophy back to Europe just as Bayern Munich did at the last event.
The 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, which is actually being held in 2022, is due to take place this month with Chelsea set to fly the flag for England and Europe against some of world football’s biggest clubs.
The champions of UEFA, CONMEBOL (The South American Football Confederation), AFC (Asian Football Confederation), CAF (Confederation of African Football), CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football), OFC (Oceania Football Confederation) and a club from the host nation will all be taking part to determine the best club team in world football.

When doe the FIFA Club World Cup start? Who Chelsea are playing and other fixtures
The 2021 FIFA Club World Cup will be held from February 3 to February 12, 2022 in the United Arab Emirates.
Taking part are six confederation champions and a team from the host nation.
They are:
- Palmeiras (CONMEBOL)
- Chelsea (UEFA)
- Al Hilal (AFC)
- Al Ahly (CAF)
- Monterrey (CONCACAF)
- AS Pirae (OFC)
- Al Jazira (Hosts)
The first round will see AS Pirae, who were nominated to represent the OFC, taking on 2020–21 UAE Pro League winners and host team Al Jazira.
The winner of that match will take on AFC Champions League holders Al Hilal in the second round while 2020–21 CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly will play 2021 CONCACAF Champions League winner Monterrey in the other second round match.
Chelsea will face the winners of Al Hilal and AS Pirae/Al Jazira in the semi-finals while 2021 Copa Libertadores winners Palmeiras will face Monterry or Al Ahly.
There are also matches for fifth and third place to be contested as well as the final.

- Monterry v Al Ahly - Friday, February 5 (16:30 kick off)
- Al Hilal v AS Pirae/Al Jazira - Saturday, February 6 (16:30 kick off)
- Palmeiras semi-final - Tuesday, February 8 (16:30 kick off)
- Match for fifth place - Wednesday, February 9 (13:30 kick off)
- Chelsea semi-final - Wednesday, February 9 (16:30 kick off)
- Match for third place - Saturday, February 12 (13:30 kick off)
- Final - Saturday, February 12 (16:30 kick off)
For elimination matches, extra time is played prior to a penalty shoo-out if required while the fifth and third place matches have no extra time period and go straight to penalties if the scores are level at the end of the match.
